Awakening the Witch Within

(continued)

The second thing I learned is that I know next to nothing about being a witch. I started witchcraft as a solitary, which worked for me at the time, but I found that when I joined a community and found a teacher (actually, several), my magical flow increased threefold as I learned how to wake the witch within. I finally learned how to ground and shield properly, something I had been struggling with for years. But the greatest thing I learned is that being a witch isn’t just about spells and rituals, it is about living my life in a spiritual way. To open myself up to the energy around me, in the earth, in the air, in the plants, animals, and people that I meet: to learn from them, and to teach, too.crystal ball

When we join a community, we exchange ideas and concepts; in short, learn from each other. Our own power grows as we share it with others. The more we do for each other the stronger we grow as a community. And a community can shake foundations, change the world. My community takes work and dedication. We don’t always agree; we don’t always have a perfect ritual. But working with these amazing women has taught me how to awaken the witch within myself. I see witchcraft as a Sacred Path that we walk every day, in every aspect of our lives. And the give and take of working in our community gives us the spark to grow, and every path is easier to walk with the laughter and support from friends.

This article is dedicated to the CUUPS community, my second family.
